WORDS - Use It To Pray! Use It To Praise!

The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

Proverbs 12.18-19

We, as children of God, have a lot of power in our tongue. But some might not know the power of it, while some would misuse it. As we take a look at Proverbs 12:18-19, it says that ‘the words of the reckless pierce like swords’. This explains the situation where someone would say many things to others that would hurt them and leave behind a huge impact. Some might curse, some might spread rumors or some might just talk behind someone’s back and that is not why God has given the power over our tongues. Some words that come out of our mouth may be very sharp like a sword which leaves a mark on a person’s heart. We have to always keep in mind that we should be accountable for each and every word that comes out of our mouth.

Then the verse continues ‘but the tongue of the wise brings healing’. The wise would always be aware of the power that they have over their tongue and would put it into a good use. Rather than using their tongue to hurt or belittle someone, the wise would put their tongue into good use by blessing others and praising God. Our tongue has more power than to just help us to speak. It has the power to lead, heal and speak wisdom. When the wise start speaking, they have the power to mend the broken heart just by their words. Therefore, they would heal the broken soul. ‘Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only for a moment’ explains about how a person who is honest and truth would always endure forever under the Almighty. As our Lord is the Lord of truth and loves the truth and everyone who speaks them. As we continue to speak the truth, this would shame the devil as there is no room for his lies to take over. When you start lying, it may get you off the punishment or trouble of that moment, but you would surely face a huge consequence. Liars would always lie to cover up the sins that they have made or to seem like they have a huge knowledge when in reality he does not. Once a lie has been told, another lie has to be told in order to cover the actual lie and this would completely destroy the peace of a person.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Proverbs 18.21

Proverbs 18:21 speaks deeply about the power that our tongue has. Our words can speak life or death depending on how we choose to use them. The word that comes from our mouth has the power to build someone up, but that very tongue also has the ability to break them apart. It all comes down on how we choose to use our tongue. To speak life? Or to speak death? Those who love talking and do not take the power of the tongue seriously, would eat the bitter fruit as they use their tongue on things that lead them to death.

The next time we speak something, make sure that we do not use our words to pierce others but start using our tongue to heal them. We should always be aware of the power that our tongue has and always use it to glorify God’s name only. Always surround yourself with people whose words will help you to learn and grow. Put your tongue into good use. Use it to pray, use it to Praise the Lord

As death and life is in your tongue, make sure you choose life over and over again!

Prayer For My Words

Father, help me guard my words when I say something. Help me make sure that the words I speak are worth hearing. Please remove the fear that prevents me from speaking when someone needs to hear of Your love for them. Help me never to miss an opportunity to speak for You.

It is so by Faith and by Faith so it is. AMEN❣

-Michelle
