The Greatest Of All Is Love

1 Corinthians 13: 1-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Love is explained as an intense feeling of deep affection towards someone. For someone who loves should also be ready to sacrifice a part of them for someone that they love, just like Christ did for us. Love is a choice and we can choose the person to whom we would like to show our love. But Jesus did not choose who He wanted to love. He loved each one of us unconditionally even when we are not worthy to be loved. If we take a look at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, those characteristics that are explained are the example of perfect love. And just like the verse, God’s love upon us is perfect. His love and grace towards us is the only reason that we have all made it this far. 'Perfect Love casts out fear.' God’s love towards us is perfect, this means that we do not have to fear anything, for the Almighty has already covered us with His perfect love.

It is important for us to love those who are around us as it brings peace to our hearts. When we love someone, we would always make sure that their presence brings peace to us and we would always try our best to protect that relationship. Just like that, we have to learn to love God and get closer to Him, as He is the only one that can give us eternal peace. Loving God also makes it easier to forgive others. Just like Christ had forgiven us for our sins, we should also have the heart to forgive others when they have hurt us. It may not be easy, but having love will make that process easier.

Matthew 22:36-39

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

The verse above speaks about the greatest commandment that God has given to us which is to love others. It is easier for us to love someone that loves us back, but it is very difficult for us to love someone that has hurt us. But God wants us to do just that, to love everyone no matter what they have done towards us.

Love is a commitment towards someone. And you should also love God to have that commitment with Him; because that's the only thing that would help us to strengthen our relationship with the Almighty.

Prayer For Love

Heavenly Father, we thank you for showing us your perfect love and for teaching us how to love another person. We pray that you help us to forgive anyone who has hurt us, so that we may receive your peace. Lord, help us to stay committed to a relationship with you, so that we may be filled with your love and live a fruitful life.

It is so by Faith and by Faith so it is. AMEN❣
