Progression, Not Perfection!

Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal, but I press on to make it my own because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12‭-‬14 NRSV

We live in a very competitive world, everyone and everything around us always makes us want to compete. It’s indeed good to have challenges, but sometimes we can't face the failure that comes with it. I’m sure we're all aware of how people end their lives just because they can’t face their failures. We come across memes and videos mocking or criticizing someone on social media just so we could laugh and enjoy, but we forget about the feelings of that person who's being trolled. We all try so hard not to fail just so that we would not be made fun of. We try our best to hide our flaws and show the world how perfect we are! It's ironic that we try so hard to be perfect when we know it's hard to be obtained. In our Christain pursuit, we do the same, we try our best to be righteous but when we fail we feel bad and struggle to make it up to God. We have a very broad understanding of sin yet we try to be “Perfect Christians”, I love the way Apostle Paul humbly admits that he’s pressing forward and has not obtained perfection. It’s a very hard truth for some of us to accept but, a man who has preached God's word around the world agrees to the fact that it's hard to attain perfection. With this understanding, Apostle Paul laid down the burden of striving to live a perfect life. Perfection is a very long process, “Progression” is what we can do now. We need to strive hard to be perfect in our progression. Progression in Christian pursuit is where we learn, we unlearn, we transform, we let go, we need guidance and we experience God’s full love and grace.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:1‭-‬2 NRSV

Let’s learn to love and live like Christ, let’s not hide our mistakes but rather try to work on it and fix it. We aren’t called to be perfect but to share the gospel, that is the Love of Christ for you and for others. Remember your flaws shape your life and they are your testimony in Christ. I'm sure one day just as we all wish, we will be made perfect when we see Christ. Until then let’s progress together💪

Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

1 John 3:2‭-‬3 NRSV

Lord, I thank you for all your goodness and mercy. Thank you for forgiving my sins, thank you for the Cross. Today, I pray that you would help me on this journey as I try to progress and help me to reflect your love on others. I pray that you’d guide me and give me the strength to move forward until the day I meet you face to face.

It is so by Faith, and by Faith it is. AMEN❤
