Let It Speak Life!

I’m sure we‘re all aware that God created the world by His Word and it is through His Word that Christ came to this world. As Jesus lived in this world, He performed miracles, healed and the dead were brought to life through His Word. It is the same powerful Word that we have with us and which is easy to access. Are you not sure of what I’m talking about?

The Bible! It is through this Bible, that God is still talking to us and is connected with us. But let’s ask ourselves a question, Where is my Bible? Do I even own one? Have I forgotten it? Does my Bible just symbolize me as a Christian? How often do I read it? I’m sure we've all got an answer for it! I’ve come across certain homes, where different versions of the Bible were shelved and were just an eye candy to the visitors, yet we could see that they weren't used for quite some time. Glad to see many versions, but if not used why ‘show off?”

It’s high time that we realize that God gave us the Bible so that we could meditate and allow Him to talk to us every day.

Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. Psalm 1:2 CSB

There are many of us who search or reminisce about our Bible only on Sunday mornings. Rest of the days in the week, we are unaware of where we misplaced our Bible. Especially during this quarantine, we’ve let our Bibles take rest.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path.

Psalm 119:105 CSB

We tend to satisfy ourselves that God is talking to us by looking into IG/FB Christian posts, forwarded Bible verses, online sermons, daily devotions, and various other sources. God can speak to us through all of these! But, they cannot become the only source through which He speaks. Acts such as these indicate our ignorance towards God. As the powerful Word of God is still in our hands, we seem to have still lost the essence of God’s Word in our lives.

Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8 NRSV

As mentioned above, the devil is waiting to separate us from the love of God, as he has no other work. So to save ourselves we are all in need of God’s Word! As Jesus, Himself overcame His temptations through His Word.

But he answered, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:4 NRSV

We will have to remember that our battle is with a supernatural being, not with mere humans. Hence to overcome them with the weapons of the world is impossible. To battle and destroy these supernatural beings we will need the Word of God, His presence, and His people (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). God has made us heavenly weapons in order to prepare us for spiritual war. As it says in Ephesians 6:14-18, God has given us the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes for our Feet to proclaim the gospel, Shield of Faith to quench every arrow of the devil, Helmet of Salvation and finally yet importantly He has given us The Sword of the Spirit, that is The Word of God! Today, let’s remind ourselves that there were many missionaries who had sacrificed their own lives and families for the Word of God to reach people and to touch many souls across nations. I encourage you to take up the Word of God and let it speak life into you. I assure you peace, comfort, deliverance, healing, joy, and the spirit of discernment through His Word.
