There Is Peace In Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a choice that a person makes to forgive other people who have offended or hurt them. Many of us find it difficult to forgive someone for what they have done because our ego stops us from doing so. When the Lord Himself forgives all our sins and accepts us as His own child, why is it so difficult for us to forgive others for their wrong doings upon us?

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Kindness, compassion and forgiveness should be practiced by us as believers. Jesus Christ died for our sins and brought peace to this world. So, we should always forgive everyone and hold grudges on none of them. Being kind is one of the greatest powers that we have as the children of God which helps us to portray God’s love through ourselves. Being compassionate towards one another is one of the ways that God has given us for allowing others to feel peace. Forgiving those who have hurt you might seem difficult, but the peace that you are about to experience when you do so is inexplicable. We should start forgiving others as Jesus Christ forgave us for all our sins despite how unworthy we are.

Matthew 6:14-15

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Back in Matthew 12:16, God has told us that we have to forgive everyone despite how many times they may come against us. It may be 7 times or 77 times, our job is to forgive them just like Christ forgives us. How can we go before God and ask Him for forgiveness, when we can’t even forgive them who have sinned against us. The urge that we have to simply forgive others and to bless others is just one of the proof that we are the children of God. In Matthew 6.14-15 God clearly says that He would only forgive our sins when we forgive those who have harmed us. This shows that God is giving a lot of importance to forgiveness as it affects our peace.

So the next time you feel so bitter and find it difficult to forgive someone who has trespassed you, just take a moment to turn your focus on God and ask for His mercy to help forgive that person. Forgive them not because the Bible told you to do so, but forgive to show that you are obeying the Lord’s commandment.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of forgiveness. Father, give us the grace to forgive those who have done us wrong. And we pray for the strength to heal, love and share your goodness to those around us. Help us to obey your words and be compassionate, so that we can live a life filled with your peace.

It is so by Faith and by Faith so it is. AMEN❣

-Michelle
