Shift Your Focus

Life is not always a bed of roses. No one has experienced constant joy and success in their lives. For many, life is even seen as one which is filled with hardships. Because life is unpredictable. Our plans may fail, our efforts can become futile and sometimes we end up in the worst places we could have only imagined for ourselves. These moments bring so much pain, that some often end up blaming God for their misery instead of reflecting on themselves. There have been times when I found myself vulnerable, trapped and hopeless. There was no possible way out of my troubles, I pondered whether my hardships were a part of God's plan or whether my own choices had led to bad outcomes. But one verse silenced all my confusion.

"....Shall we receive the good at the hand of God, and not receive the bad?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Job 2:10 NRSV

Be sure of this, we are all born with a purpose. God can use anything that was intended for harm and wield it for His miracles and promises. At times, our troubles may even become the only thread still holding us to God, forcing us to depend on His guidance and grace to help us. This shifts our focus from our sufferings to hope, which gives us the strength to overcome.

Therefore stop worrying about finances, education or health. When our source of strength is dependent on them, we will be worried about instability and survival. Shift your focus from the treasures of this world and keep God as the centre of your life. He is our father and we are His children and so our priorities are not His priorities. What we search for are temporary resolutions, but He wants us to grow with lifelong lessons so that our hardships retain a purpose. He can resolve any crisis within moments but it will be delayed until we change our hearts. Because we depend on God to save us, we also need to live by His ordinances. And like the prodigal son, when we repent and return to our Father, we will be comforted and embraced. Even amid our drawbacks, He remains faithful. So when we transform and live to please God, there is no battle in life to be feared. With Him, there is joy even in suffering, hope even in failures, and worship even in hardships. Thus stop living a stagnant life filled with fears and anxiety and make an effort to change. To live a life of stability, faith and hope is much needed.

Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.

Genesis 50:20 NRSV

Prayer for Strength

Father, we thank you for the love you have shown us. Thank you for your guidance and your strength. Lord, in times of uncertainty and fear, we pray for your presence to be with us and encourage us to overcome any trouble. So that in this, we may bring glory to your name.

It is so by Faith and by Faith so it is. AMEN❣
