Put On The Full Armor Of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:10-11

Most of us are too focused on being attacked physically that we forget that we also need to fight some battles spiritually in our lives. Even though we have the Almighty by our side, the Lord still reminds us to be well prepared for the upcoming battles as those are the battles that can strengthen us. In Ephesians 6, God says that we have to put on the full armor of God. Putting on the full armor of God means that we have to apply the gospel that we have learned into our daily lives. because they act as a source of strength and protection to face the challenges in our daily lives. There are six armors of God in the Bible. The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and also the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. These armors of God are the spiritual defence to overcome any attacks that are caused by the enemy.

To a soldier, a belt is very important because that is where they would place their weapons. Just like that, the belt of truth is very important for us as Christians as it keeps us all together. The ultimate truth is found in the word of God and we need to know the truth as it saves us from falling into the sins of the world. Righteous means being made right and the breastplate of righteousness is important in making sure that our heart is always in the right direction. Though we are not righteous, our God is always there to make us righteous. All we need to do is to guard our hearts and make sure that we walk in His way. Soldiers wear a caligae to protect their feet during a battle and we should also use the gospel as a tool in protecting our peace. Our hearts would be at peace knowing that we are secure in the arms of the Lord and we should not let anything rob us from that peace. In our lives, the enemy tries to attack us with arrows of doubt and without the shield of faith, we would surely fall into the enemies trap. We need to have complete faith in God despite our circumstances because He has the power to change any situation in our lives. As a believer, we should also have a mind that is always under the Almighty’s control and the only way for that is by wearing the helmet of salvation. Our mind is the important place the enemy would try to attack, so we need to make sure to put on our helmet of salvation and not let any attack of the enemy fall onto us. Jesus used the word of God, to retaliate against the temptation of Satan in the wilderness. Hence, we need to immerse ourselves in the gospel of the Lord. Every other armor protects us from being attacked, but the sword of the spirit is the only tool that can be used to fight back against the works of the enemy.

In Life, when difficult times come crashing like the waves of the sea, make sure that you rely on the word of the Lord and never lose faith in Him. Use the armor of the Lord as your defence to fight against the works of the enemy and make sure that you come out of the spiritual battle much stronger and wiser.

Prayer For Strength

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the tools that you have given us to stand strong in our spiritual battles. We ask that you strengthen our faith and help us to fight against any doubts, discouragement and hopelessness in our lives. Lord, bless this new month for us and help us to come closer to you in spirit so that we may have peace in our hearts and overcome any battle with victory.
