Leave The Past To Where It Belongs

Updated: Aug 8, 2021

“Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

Many of us have gone through a very rough past which would have brought a huge impact in our lives. But we as the children of God should always learn to lose our grip from our past. For Christ has given us His whole life and He died for our sins, we are being renewed in Christ and our past should not be something that defines us anymore.

As we take a deeper look in Isaiah 43:18-19, the Lord tells us that we should completely forget the past. This is because God wants all of us to start fresh, back to square one. We are often held back by the bitter past that we lived in but we should always trust in God and follow His commandments which in this case was to forget the past. I believe that God has told us to no longer remember the past as the future that the Lord has planned for us would be greater than our past.

In the next verse, God is telling us to see the new things that He has done for us. For His mercy is being renewed everyday, His plans for us are also renewed. The Lord does many new things that we cannot fathom and He also multiplies the goodness that is bestowed upon us. He also promises us that He would make a way in the wilderness. Oftentimes, we are left stranded in a place where there seems to be no hope or light at the end of the tunnel. But we as the children of God should always remember that the Lord is capable of doing anything and everything. God will surely create a way even when we begin to lose hope and feel like that is no way out from our past. The Lord will surely make your life more prosperous than it was before and grant you the blessings and happiness that you have lost in your past.

“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:25‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

Our past would often lead us into thinking that we are never fit for the kingdom but we should not let those thoughts take over our minds. No matter what kind of path that we came from, we are always worthy and loved in the eyes of the Lord. We should never let our past define us and stop us from working towards the kingdom. Instead, we should fix our eyes on the Almighty and never let anything drift our minds away from Him. We should always have God as our prime.

Where we came from or what our past looks like is never important, but where we move from this day forward means everything!

Prayer To Let Go

Lord, I don’t really know how to “let go”. I don’t really know what to do to give You control of my life, but I am coming to You in humility of heart to admit that I can do nothing in my own strength and to confess my need of You in my life. Lord, I pray that Your grace and mercy would lead and guide me and take control.

It is so by Faith and by Faith so it is. AMEN❣
